If you’re looking for the perfect way to spend a warm September day on the Long Beach Peninsula, Cranguyma Farms on Sandridge Road is the place to go.
This local treasure is a beloved tradition for many families, ours included, and offers an experience that’s both fun and delicious. This fifth-generation working farm has been operating since 1940 and is quite impressive! You'll find a mix of blueberries, cranberries and holly bushes spanning across 200 acres. Not many people know that the peninsula is a great location for growing berries and other crops, so having this farm open to the public is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn more!

At Cranguyma Farms, you can grab a bucket and wander through rows of lush blueberry bushes, filling it with as many berries as you can carry. There’s something magical about slowing down, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying the simple joy of gathering food straight from the source.
It’s also one of the most family-friendly activities around. My kids love racing to find the biggest berries, always turning it into a competition to see who can fill their bucket first. Growing up on the Long Beach Peninsula, my siblings and I used to walk to the farm together, so watching my own kids do the same thing now feels extra special. It takes me back to simpler times, free of screens, and gives us all a chance to connect with the land and each other.

This farm runs on the honor system, which makes the experience even more meaningful. Respecting the tradition and paying honestly is a wonderful teaching moment for kids.
When we get home, the fun continues. We save some blueberries for baking muffins or pancakes, and whatever is left goes straight into the freezer for morning smoothies.
Cranguyma Farms is truly one of the Peninsula’s hidden gems. It’s a great way to experience the agricultural side of our community while supporting a local farm.
Whether you’re visiting for the weekend or lucky enough to call Long Beach home, this is a must-do for your seasonal bucket list!
